Do you have a Vascular or Lymphatic Malformation, or know someone who does?
Vascular and Lymphatic Malformations are rare conditions affecting the vascular system, which include veins, arteries, and lymph vessels. These malformations develop before birth, they are caused by a somatic mutation (by chance).
Instead of normal, smooth networks of vessels, the vessels enlarge or form tangles, pockets or shunting vessels that cause abnormal blood flow.
- Lymphatic Malformation involve the vessels that carry fluid through the lymphatic system
- Venous Malformation are a type of Vascular Malformation that develops in the veins.
- Venolymphatic Malformation affect both veins and lymph vessels.
- Arteriovenous Malformation are abnormal connections between arteries and veins.
